Improvements in the pipeline

ImageOh dear.

Powys County Council are looking to make ‘improvements’ to the mobile library service.

They say that at some of the stops, there are only a few visitors, mostly old people.

A  spokesperson said, ‘Fuck ’em. They’ll be dead soon.’

Radio Free Radnorshire

ImageAnother must hear broadcast by our friends at Radio Free Radnorshire. In order to hear Spreaker properly, you have to do all sorts of technical buggering about. We here at the RLF are too involved with the campaign to end the hegemony of Powys to learn how to do this properly, but one of our supporters links to it via his blog here, and you can also follow the station by clicking on the link on our Comrades blog roll. It’s mostly pop music, but it is free, Radnorian, and they do have a go at Powys from time to time…

Fleggers from Ceredigion

Now, I know I said yesterday that ‘This is it’ re. the flag of the RLF. Well, today I have been contacted by a vexillologist from Ceredigion who would very much like to see Powys go the way of Dyfed. The counties of Ceredigion (Cardigan if you must) Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire were subsumed by ‘Dyfed’ in 1974, but they reagained their independance a few years back. He has come up with this one, which really is the feller.  Cynod Sir Faesyfed!

This is it. Really. We really mean it this time.

Right. This is the one. The RLF vexillologists were threatened with being first to the wall come the great day. Another correspondent described our Michaelmas flag as ‘Jessey’ (sic). We at the RLF (District Council) like a joke as much as the next liberation front, but enough is enough.

We have therefore sacked our new design team, and brought back the old one. This time, instead of using the colours of the Mortimers, they have used the colours of the winning side of the Battle of Bryn Glas (ie Owain Glyndwr). It should never be forgotten that the greatest victory of the Welsh over the English was fought and won on the soil of Radnorshire.

So, can we please move onto the important business of bringing about the downfall of Powys, and stop sniping about the fecking flag.

Thank you.

The road to Water-Break-Its-Neck

5002287888_91a191fa1d_z This is a fascinating link, from the Green Lanes Association. It shows quite clearly the incompetence of Powys County Council.

We particularly like the concluding paragraph, which could be applied to many of the doings at ‘County Hall’; it makes you wonder if the people of Powys are aware that their elected members appear not to check basic facts and seem unwilling to allow the public to directly participate in the democratic process. However, they are apparently content to give a small group of influential people free rein to needlessly spend taxpayers’ money, at a time of heavy cuts, on what appears to be a hidden agenda that runs contrary to declared policies by using expensive Barristers and dubious legal tactics.’

Powys is too big to exist.  The time is coming when the people of Radnorshire will regain a real democratic say over the running of our historic county.
