Leighton Andrews Drinks (Metaphorical) Hemlock

Today Welsh Education Minister Leighton Andrews has been forced to resign because of the issue of school closures in Wales.

More political careers will come to grief because of the nightmare that is schools policy in Wales. Are you listening, County Councillor Myfanwy Alexander, ‘portfolio holder’ for education in Powys? Are you listening, County Councillor David Jones, currently leader of Powys County Council but,  between 2004 and 2011,  chairman of education in Powys?

We at the RLF call for your resignation with immediate effect.

  1. I can’t agree more about the resignations of the PCC members. This area used to have a cracking education system. One of the best in Wales, when Wales did better than England. Now Wales are behind England and Powys seem to be one of the worst in Wales. I really do hate to point the finger at the Welsh Government but it has happened on their watch. In Powys David Jones seems to want to run an education system on thin air. PCC should be looking at ways to reduce travel and make the most of technology. Small schools don’t all need headteachers when they can Skype for free. Taxpayers money is going to be wasted on buildings we don’t need and making oil companies better off. Alexander and Jones should resign and get someone in who knows about education and is forward thinking.
